NYBG Orchid Show

New York Botanical Garden  never ceases to impress us with its mesmerizing exhibitions. This time VodkaTonik visited the Orchid Show. This exhibition of the orchids’ impressive variety instills serenity, peace, and tranquility in its visitors.

Daniel Ost, the creator of the showcase, is a renowned floral artist and designer from Belgium. What inspired his design of the exhibition is the way the orchids grow in the wild. They almost never cluster together and usually grow on trees or elevated ground.

There is definitely a sense of authenticity in the way the orchids are positioned within the exhibition. You will feel like you are walking through a forest rather than a botanical garden.

There are also two large installations by Daniel Ost: one is made of transparent plastic tubes and the other – from bamboo. According to the creator, the plastic tubes mimic the jungle vines which he presents in a modern day context.

Caught in the whirl of busy NY life, we forget how much variety, uniqueness, and elegance is hidden within each seemingly unimportant flower. Make sure to experience the incredible world of orchids before the Orchid Show closes on April 22nd.
